Still Life Art Class (K-6)
Strengthen artistic skills by drawing from life
In this outdoor art class, students draw and paint from still life arrangements of natural objects. We use sunlight as our primary light source to observe dynamic shadows, highlights, and depth. Through direct observation, they develop strong composition, proportion, and value relationships while learning to simplify complex forms and make intentional, skillful marks. This class sharpens technical drawing ability and trains the eye to see subtle details and the powerful role light plays in bringing artwork to life. Max class size of 8 students. Parents are welcome to stay!

Meet the Teacher
Hi! My name is Beth. I work as a professional artist and I've been teaching art for 18 years. Throughout my career, I've seen the transformative effect art can have on children. It's the one place they can make a mess, make mistakes, and create something great in the process. I see the pride and confidence it builds, the ideas it inspires, and the skills it develops. I’ve created fun play-based art classes to introduce foundational learning and artistic skills such as creative problem solving, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence to foster a love of learning and set students up for academic and personal success.
